I have recently become aware of a new method of restoring hair in thinning hair women. It’s known as the Derma Roller, and I first learned about it (interestingly) in my quest to get rid of stretch marks (for which it also works).
So, how does something work against BOTH stretch marks AND thinning hair (not to mention wrinkles and acne scars)? It’s helpful to have a picture of it, so you’ll see what it is. Basically, as you can see it’s a rolling device with very fine needles on the roller. Now, many people seeing that would think, “I’m not rolling that on my skin!” Because it looks as if it’d be painful. The fact is, the needles are so fine, and there are many of them, which means that when you actually do roll it over your skin, it’s no more than a tickling feeling.
How Does
The Derma Roller Work?
Essentially, when you roll it over your skin (or scalp) it produces very small holes in your skin. So small you can’t see them, and they don’t hurt. However, the body does respond to these small holes as it sees them as damage. The body is very clever at detecting damage, so sends healing factors in immediately to help!
Studies have shown that microneedling on the hair scalp is able to reduce or even halt hair loss in men with male pattern baldness, and is even more effective on women with thinning hair (simply because the genetic hair loss factors in women don’t seem to play the same role as in men). By stimulating blood folow to the scalp the Derma Roller is able to stimulate the hair follicles to start producing new hair.
The Derma Roller also works well when other hair loss treatments are used at the same time. Using hair restoration lotions after using the Derma Roller can mean that the lotions penetrate the skin better, and thus have a better effect on the hair loss problem. Honestly, the Derma Roller can be used for so many applications, I recommend that everyone buys one! Even once your thinning hair problem is resolved, your Derma Roller can still be used for wrinkles, scarring, and stretch marks. In fact, I like to use it regularly over just about all my skin, because I believe it also helps with skin dryness and scaliness by stimulating blood circulation in the skin.
